Three local graphic designers, who all share the same values of community, creativity, and uniqueness, opened The UnCommons in Inglewood in 2012. When The Uncommons first opened, it didn’t even have a storefront sign. Rather than advertise in magazines and other traditional media, the owners took a more community-oriented approach and began building solid relationships with the neighbours and patrons that came into their shop.
Now, with a handcrafted metal sign hanging next to the front door, the UnCommons shines proudly along Inglewood’s main shopping street. The uncommon housewares, clothing, publications and furniture they carry are a testament to their name, but so is their hands-on approach to the retail experience. This personal approach is what makes Inglewood so special — it’s an escape from the big-box-store mentality. It’s always a pleasure to explore Inglewood on a shopping adventure. When you do, make sure to stop in to the UnCommons and say ‘Hi!’
